Contest Rules and Regulations

Kathy Reichs Flash and Bones Giveaway (“the contest”)

The contest starts Tuesday August 16, 2011, at 1:01 am ET, and closes Tuesday August 30, 2011, at 11:59 pm ET. (The times noted are determined solely on the contest server machine.)  No purchase necessary. Submissions are accepted by email only. There is a limit of one entry per household/person/email address. By entering the contest, the entrant accepts the rules and regulations set out below and accepts the decision made by the contest judges.

To enter:

• Email with the required information, listed at the bottom of this page. All entries must be submitted from a valid email account that may be identified by reverse domain name search, in the case of identity dispute.
• You can receive additional entries by signing up for our newsletter (one extra entry) or liking us on Facebook (one extra entry).

The draw:

The random draw will take place on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, in Toronto, Ontario, and will be made from all valid entries received by the closing date. The winners (5) will be emailed on Wednesday August 31, 2011, by an editor of WorkLivePlayCafe. The email used will be the one used by the entrant in the entry email. The email account holder is considered the entrant, in the event of dispute.

If the selected entrants cannot be reached by Friday, September 2, 2011, at 12 pm ET (noon), cannot correctly answer the skill-testing question, declines the prize or does not return the release of liability form (if/where specified), WorkLivePlayCafe reserves the right, at its own discretion, to select another entrant or to cancel the prize.

The prize:

Entrants are eligible to win one of five copies of Kathy Reichs’ new novel Flash and Bones, valued at $29.99 each. This prize must be accepted as awarded. No prize substitutions of cash or otherwise, or transfer of the prize will be made.

The entrants:

To be the winner, the selected entrant must correctly answer, without help (mechanical or otherwise), a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question asked over telephone at a time that is convenient to both the selected entrant and WorkLivePlayCafe. The selected entrant will also need to reply to the email sent following the skill-testing question by the editors of WorkLivePlayCafe to confirm that the winner acknowledges the contest rules and regulations, and releases WorkLivePlayCafe from any and all liability. All decisions and rulings made by the judges are final and without appeal.

By redeeming the prize, winners consent to the use of their name, entry, city of residence and/or any photograph to be taken for publicity by WorkLivePlayCafe or the contest sponsor without further notice or compensation.

The contest is open to all residents of Canada (with the exception of Quebec), age 19 years or older.  Entrants cannot be employees, officers, directors or immediate family members (parents, children, siblings, spouses, partners) of WorkLivePlayCafe, contest sponsors or suppliers, affiliated companies, representatives, dealers and agents.   The contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations and is voidable where prohibited by law.

Communication will only be made with selected entrants.

The odds of winning:

Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received during the contest period. Entries may be disqualified if they are incomplete, illegible, irregular or submitted through illicit means. Entries that are lost, stolen, delayed or late are not the responsibility of WorkLivePlayCafe. All entries remain the property of WorkLivePlayCafe.

General rules:

1)Any information supplied by the entrant to WorkLivePlayCafe is for the purpose of this contest only. When the contest is over, no further communication will be made, unless he or she has given WorkLivePlayCafe permission to do so (such as registering for the newsletter or on Facebook). Please read our privacy policy for further information about your personal data and how it is used and made secure.

2)By accepting and redeeming the prize, the selected entrant agrees to release and hold harmless WorkLivePlayCafe, the contest sponsors and their respective advertising and promotional agencies, judges, affiliates, directors, officers, owners, partners, employees, agents, dealers, representatives, successors and assigns (all together “the releasees”) from any and all liability in connection with this contest or prize, including loss or damage due in whole or in part by reason of the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of prize or participation in this contest. Acceptance of the prize shall be as is. Winner shall look solely to the manufacturer and the warranty provided, if any, should there be any defects with the prize.

3)Before being declared the winner, the selected entrant may be required to return, within a certain amount of time as set out by the judges, a declaration of compliance with the contest rules and a full liability and publicity release. By accepting the prize, winners agree to the use of their name, place of residence, voice, statements, photographs or other likenesses for publicity, advertising or informational purposes in any medium or format without further compensation or notice. Home addresses will be sent to the contest sponsor so books can be mailed to winners.

4)WorkLivePlayCafe is not responsible for any technical problems or otherwise during the contest time, such as, but not limited to, failure of the internet or issues with telephone lines, nor for any injury or damage to an entrant’s or other person’s computer related or due to downloading any material in the promotion. WorkLivePlayCafe (at its sole discretion) reserves the right to cancel the contest if the security and administration of the contest is jeopardized or corrupted by a virus, bug or other cause beyond its reasonable control. If an attempt is made to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this promotion, WorkLivePlayCafe may seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent of the law. 

5)WorkLivePlayCafe reserves the right to amend the rules, if and when necessary. By entering the contest, entrants agree to comply by the rules stated above and will be deemed to have read and understood these rules. By redeeming the prize, the winner has agreed to all the terms and conditions specified above and agrees to be bound by them.
